THE FERRY

About Perth's Ferry

The ferry is a short ride across the Swan River. Perth s main ferry terminal is located at Barrack Street Jetty. The Ferry trips in Perth travel between Barrack Street Jetty and Mends Street Jetty in South Perth everyday between 6:50 in the morning to 7:15 at night and ferry to and from Fremantle, Rottnest, and South Perth. The jetty is a short bus ride on a CAT or a five-minute walk from St. George s Terrace. There are also other ferry terminals and these are located at East Fremantle, North Fremantle and Hillarys Boat Harbour.

Some of the ferry companies also operate a bus service. These buses have stops at the train station as well as some of the large hotels and backpacker accommodations. Also you might want to ask the ferry operators about whale watching cruises.

There is a Free Transit Zone (or FTZ ) within the central city area of Perth City which allows commuters to travel on buses and trains for free. The transit free zone is provided seven days a week and stretches from Kings Park to the Causeway, and Northbridge to the Swan River.
